Introduction

Former Clique Affiliate Marketing client, TheClymb.com offers is an entirely different way to shop for outdoor, snowsports and cycling gear. They are a private retail community connecting premium outdoor brands with passionate, influential consumers. TheClymb.com partner brands offer preferred pricing to members of their community, so a password is required to shop the site. The Clymb holds 72 hour flash sale events featuring broad selections from the best brands in the outdoor industry at up to 70% off– Burton, Mountain Hardwear, Reef, Kelty, Sierra Designs & more.

Overview

In September 2010, TheClymb launched an exclusive affiliate program through AvantLink Affiliate Network. The program started strong, but after the initial excitement both sales and overall affiliate participation declined. Knowing they needed a dedicated affiliate manager with experience in the outdoor industry, they contacted Brian Boyd – owner of Clique Affiliate Marketing

Implementation

In February 2011 Brian implemented a new dynamic ad campaign strategy, allowing partners to marketing flash sales at the brand level. Over the next 11 months (the remainder of 2011), TheClymb averaged 25% month-over-month growth, and reached several milestones:

  • Monthly affiliate sales over $100,000
  • They were awarded the “Most Improved Affiliate Program Of 2011” by an industry leading forum.
  • Through the affiliate program they acquired hundreds of new customers and memebers
  • Over one half million dollars in affiliate sales for for the year.
  • In 2012, Brian recruited over 300 new endemic, coupon, loyalty and third party tool provider websites in The Clymb affiliate program. Additional achievement in 2012 include:

  • Affiliate sales contributing 12% of total online sales (on average).
  • An average conversion rate of 9.35%
  • Affiliate program sales of $2.2 million
  • Year over year growth of 226%
  • Thousands of new customers and members acquired
